Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
- Your business data is yours. We keep it safe, and we don't sell it or show it to advertisers.
- We use your phone number and email to run your account, and to call or message you about your account and free trial. Tips and offers on WhatsApp are only sent if you said yes, and you can change that at any time.
- Online payments go through Paystack. We never see or store card numbers.
- You can download all your data, and you can delete your account and its data at any time from inside the app.
- The 14-day trial needs no card. After it, you pay per business for each month, quarter or year. Nothing renews by itself.
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Mobo-Vault ("we", "us") handles personal data when you use the Mobo-Vault app and the Mobo-Vault POS app, the online ordering, booking, Discover and rider pages, and our website. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the rules of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Two kinds of data, two roles
- Your account: your email, phone number, password, payment history and how you use the app. For this data, we are the data controller.
- Your business's records: the people your business deals with, such as your customers, guests, staff, suppliers and riders. Your business decides what to record, so for these records your business is the controller and we are its processor. We store and process them only to provide the service to you. If one of your customers asks what you hold about them, you answer them. We will help you do so.
What we collect
| What | Examples | Why, and the legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Email, a password (stored only as a one-way scrambled hash), business name, phone/WhatsApp number, secret-question answers (also hashed) | To create and secure your account and recover it if you are locked out (contract) |
| Contact choices | Whether you agreed to these terms and when; whether you want tips and offers on WhatsApp | To keep a record of what you agreed to (legal obligation); marketing only with your consent |
| Business records you enter | Sales, invoices, products, stock, expenses, rooms, bookings, staff names and roles, customer names and phone numbers | To provide the app, sync it across your devices and back it up (contract) |
| Orders and bookings made by the public | Name, phone, delivery address or location (shared only when the customer taps "Use my location"), room dates, an optional email for a receipt | To pass the order or booking to the business, work out the delivery fee, and keep the customer informed (the business's purpose; we act as processor) |
| Rider details | Name, phone, bank account for payouts, location during a delivery | To offer, track and pay for deliveries (contract) |
| Payments | Amount, date, reference and status from Paystack. Never your card number; Paystack handles that. | To give you what you paid for and keep accounts (contract, legal obligation) |
| How you found us | The ad, video, campaign or partner code in the link you used, and the site you came from | To learn which of our adverts work and to reward partners who refer customers (legitimate interest) |
| What you send to the AI features | Photos of menus, price lists, stock books, invoices or products; spreadsheets; pasted lists; a description of your business; scanned barcodes | To read them into items for you to check and add (contract). Sent only when you use an AI feature, and not kept by us after reading |
| Technical and security data | App version, screens opened and errors (to fix problems), sign-in attempts, and a scrambled form of the internet address used to sign up | To keep the service working and stop abuse (legitimate interest) |
Your business data is also kept on your own phone or computer, so the app works without internet. Anyone who can unlock that device can see it, so use the app's own App Lock and staff PINs.
How we use it
- To run the app: sign-in, sync, backup, online ordering, bookings, deliveries and payments.
- To contact you about your account: your trial ending, payments, security, problems, and important changes. We may call, email, text or WhatsApp you for these.
- To send tips and offers on WhatsApp, only if you said yes. You can stop them at any time in Sync & Backup → Your phone & WhatsApp, or by simply telling us to stop.
- To see which adverts and partners bring customers, as counts and totals.
- To fix faults, improve the app and prevent fraud.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your business's customer records to market to them.
Who it is shared with
- Cloudflare, which hosts our servers and database. Data may be stored or processed outside Nigeria, with Cloudflare's security and contractual safeguards. This is a cross-border transfer under Part VIII of the NDPA.
- Paystack, which processes payments, for subscription payments and for payments to businesses and riders.
- Our email provider, which sends sign-in codes and receipts.
- Anthropic, which provides the AI (Claude) that reads photos (including supplier invoices and receipts), sheets and lists you choose to send to the AI features, and answers questions you type into Ask AI in Help. When you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is looked up in Open Food Facts, a public product database.
- Someone you give a setup code to (assisted setup) sees your items, prices, recipes, rooms and suppliers — never your sales, money or reports — until the code expires or you cancel it.
- The business you order from or book with: when you order or book through a business's page, that business receives your order details.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it.
If the website shows advertising or analytics tags (such as Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel), they collect information about visits to the website. They are not used inside the app, and your browser settings can block them.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep your account and business data.
- If you delete your account (Sync & Backup → Delete Account Forever), it is removed from our live database straight away. Copies in our safety backups disappear as those backups expire, normally within 30 days.
- Accounts that were never used (no data, never paid, not opened for a long time) may be removed.
- Payment records are kept for six years, because tax law requires it.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you can ask to:
- see the personal data we hold about you
- have it corrected
- have it deleted
- have its use restricted
- object to how it is used
- receive a copy to take elsewhere (Sync & Backup → Download Backup gives you everything in your account)
- withdraw consent at any time
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords, secret answers and sign-in tokens are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. Staff PINs are checked by the server, and every sale and action is recorded under the person who did it. Two-factor sign-in is available. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the NDPC as the law requires.
Children
Mobo-Vault is a business tool for adults. Accounts must be opened by people aged 18 or over.
Terms of Use
By creating an account or using Mobo-Vault you agree to these terms. If you use it for a business, you confirm you are allowed to agree for that business.
1. The service
Mobo-Vault is software for running a business: sales and point of sale, stock, staff, online ordering, hotel rooms and bookings, accounts and tax records, with sync and backup. Features depend on the plan (module) chosen for each business.
2. Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your password and PINs private.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what your staff do with the access you give them.
- Set up your secret questions and keep your email current, so you can get back in if you forget your password.
3. Free trial, plans and payment
- Each new business gets a 14-day free trial. No card is needed.
- After the trial, each business is paid for separately, monthly, quarterly or yearly, at the prices shown in the app in Naira. Every plan includes one branch, and extra branches are charged as shown in the app.
- Payment is made through Paystack. Plans do not renew automatically. You choose when to pay for the next period. Paying early adds to the time you already have.
- If a period ends unpaid, a short grace period follows. After that, using the business is limited until you pay. Your data is not deleted because a payment is late.
- We may change prices for future periods. A change never affects a period you have already paid for.
- Payments cover the period bought and are not refundable, except where we charged in error or the law requires a refund.
4. Online ordering, bookings and payments to businesses
- When a business takes payment online, the money goes through Paystack to that business's own bank account. Mobo-Vault does not hold it. A small service fee, shown before the customer pays, may be added.
- The business, not Mobo-Vault, sells the goods, food, rooms or services. It is responsible for its prices, quality, delivery, taxes, cancellations and refunds to its customers.
- Riders are independent. They are responsible for their own conduct and for delivering safely.
5. Tax and accounting figures
Mobo-Vault calculates VAT and other taxes using the rates and rules you set, and produces reports to help you. It is not tax, accounting or legal advice. You remain responsible for your tax returns and records. Check important figures with your accountant.
5a. AI suggestions
The AI features read what you send and suggest items, names, units, prices, and the lines of a purchase or an expense. Ask AI answers from the app's help guide. Suggestions and answers can be wrong: check them before saving. Nothing the AI suggests is saved until you confirm it, and the AI never records a sale, payment, purchase or expense by itself.
6. Your data
Everything you put into Mobo-Vault remains yours. You let us store and process it only to provide the service. You can download it at any time. Keep your own backups too, using Download Backup.
7. Fair use
Do not use Mobo-Vault for anything unlawful, to deceive customers, to sell prohibited goods, to send spam, or to interfere with the service or other people's accounts. Promotions and Discover listings must be truthful. We may remove content that breaks these terms, and tell you why.
8. Availability
The app keeps working on your device without internet. Online ordering, payments, bookings and sync need a connection. We work to keep the service running, but cannot promise it will never be interrupted. Planned maintenance is announced in the app.
9. Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit, lost sales or lost data you could have backed up. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot legally be limited.
10. Suspension and closing an account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Where it is safe to do so, we tell you first and give you the chance to download your data.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update this page. Important changes are announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Mobo-Vault after that means you accept the new version.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction.
